Fuga Island has a lot of attractions to offer to both local and foreign tourists alike. It has a beautiful and pristine coastline with powdery white sand beaches, which is comparable to that of Boracay. It also has excellent dive sites, which according to experienced divers, is comparable to the dive sites of Tubbataha in Palawan. There are also heritage sites in the Island and a Crystal Cave tour and for the more adventurous travelers, there are eco-adventure tours available and eco-trail hiking.
Fuga Island also has a huge potential to be an international cruise ship destination due to its proximity to Taiwan, a regular stop of cruise tours, with the more secure cruise waters of the north compared to the south. The island’s proximity to Taiwan, Hongkong, and China is also an advantage time and cost-wise to tourists.
Tourism in the Philippines has mostly centered on attractions in the southern part of the country – Boracay, Palawan, Batangas, Cebu. The proposed development of Fuga Island into a premier eco-friendly tourist island destination will give tourism a big boost, particularly in attracting more visitors to the northern part of the Philippines, thus providing an alternative to Boracay and other popular tourist destinations in the country.
The proposed project aims to contribute to the country’s tourism program by developing Fuga Island as a private sanctuary with gaming and leisure activities to rival top resort destinations like Bali, Maldives, and Bora Bora. The development will include a 250-room hotel and its amenities, including aqua and sports facilities, convention area and casino area. Construction of the project will take about 24 months.
